Ok so last year I was totally clueless about the idea of fleas…and I paid dearly. This year will NOT be the case.
I’ve got cat mist for the animals, caarpet and appolstry powder for the furniture, and a new strict vaccum schedule for me. No way will it be a repeat of last year.
Thankfully they seem to be localized in the music room, which is an odd place to be but oh well, at least it’s not the living room this time.
Guarentee you these fleas came from Maine. I mean come on, outdoor living for nearly two whole days? That and I’m sure the jungle of a lawn at home didn’t help…oh well, doesn’t matter. Time to exterminate!!!
First thing’s first…it was really good seeing my old college friends again. Stew, Shannon, Tara, and of course the “Otaku Crew.” I had a great weekend and was glad that I was able to spend time hanging out with these friends again. Not to mention the guys that came with me, Drok and Gwetzelor.
Yet, I can’t help but feel that I wish I had prepared myself a bit better for this, and not only in the alchohol department.
I dunno…I tend to worry about things too much, namely what everyone thinks of me and how much fun people have around me. Therefore I often find myself worrying about being a good host far too much and not enjoying the moment as much.
This isn’t to say I didn’t have fun, not at all. That also isn’t to say that I didn’t get to spend time with everyone…on the contrary…
1. Beers with Stew 2. Cards with Tara and Doug 3. The beach and chatting at the site with Garret and Shannon 4. Pretty much every day with Drok and Wetzel
Maybe I’m just worrying too much about things again and should just learn to enjoy it. Besides, realistically everyone there had at the most a day and a half to spend, so everyone had to do what they had to do to enjoy their vacation, so really, considering there really should be no regrets at all…especially at anytime after 6pm Saturday in which all I will say is that after that point I would be of no use to anyone until around the same time yesterday after an entire afternoon’s worth of binge eating anything I could get my hands on and not moving for any extended period at a time.
So what’s the verdict of the entire weekend you ask? Camping as a whole? Well, here you go…
1. Definately would go camping again…but perhaps not so far out of state and certainly at such a high priced site to camp in what was basically a trailer park. 2. Bring an air mattress next time 3. Bring REAL food, and not just chips and burgers 4. Bring beverages other than alcohol…dehydration is a bitch.
Only a few more days and I’ll be back in Maine, this time, CAMPING! YAYS!
I’ll be bringing my boys D-Rok and G-Wetz along for the ride and it is shaping out to be quite the epic weekend.
I’m bringing my bike, a bunch of games, maybe a book or two and just veg out by the fire with a beer and quite possibly a cigar.
The only thing is that I need to figure out how to handle my phone. No WAY is it going to keep a single charge all weekend, and at the very least I need it for the drive back. I’m thinking of investing in a car charger, besides, I’ve got $10 off at the Verizon store. Couldn’t hurt right?
I’ll be bringing my camera and Flip Video as well, so expect some epic photos and videos to be uploaded when I get back. Who knows, if we have enough fun it might be an annual thing.
Oh! Almost forgot, rumor has it Shane and Stew will be stopping by the site as well! YAY for seeing even more of my college buds. A bunch of other college peeps are going in the same campground so I can expect some shenanigans from them as well. I predict some heavy Apples to Apples in my future…
36Crazyfists- Collisions and Castaways *First Impressions*
It’s been 2 years since we were last treated to a 36Crazyfists album, and since then the band has been some hopping around several record labels in what can be best described as a true clusterf*ck. Thankfully the issue has been resolved…for now…and we have a brand new album coming out this tuesday (7/13) and the first single Reviver is now available on YouTube for your listening.
Now, 36Crazyfists has been a band I have been worried about for a while now. Why? Well, it seems that all the bands I end up getting extremely attatched to…
Limp Bizkit (Say what you will, their first album is AMAZING)
…end up hitting it big in the mainstream and go through what people on iTunes try to describe it as “maturing.” When really, we all know that’s just a fancy way of saying…”they changed everything that made you like them in the first place so that they could make themselves popular to people who don’t have the taste to appreciate them in the first place.” Metallica sure has “matured” a lot haven’t they? I’d say the same about Green Day but let’s face it, there’s no room for improvement for a band that only uses power chords outside of…well…you know, actually learning how to play the instrument like it was intended to.
Anyways, I digress. These days the moment you can mention the name of on of your favorite bands that isn’t in the mainstream and people start to recognize them…well, usually you can count the days before the band lets you down and changes teams for the sake of the almighty dollar. So far I have found only two examples of which…Bad Religion and 36Crazyfists.
True, 36CF isn’t as well known as Bad Religion, but they are known enough to be on the MTV Headbanger’s Ball CD, and that’s enough to get me nervous. However, two years ago The Tide and it’s Takers was released and alleviated those fears. Sure it was more polished then what we were used to, but the strict ratio of 2/1 screaming vs. vocals was there. The guitar work was frantic and simple, yet elegant, and the lyrics were as cryptic as ever.
Having heard the new single I can say that it seems that all of those elements are still intact if it can indeed say anything for the rest of the album. If only…a bit TOO similar. I WANTED things to stay the same, however, it sounds far too similar to what we heard in the last album. Even the riff seems all too familiar, it’s distant enough to keep me guessing what song it reminds me of, but close enough that I’m SURE that it’s almost a clone of one they’ve already done. The song structure is the same way. So, in all, I’m left with conflicting feelings of anticipation and skepticism.
We all want our bands to stay exactly how they were when we first fell in love with them, however we also want to hear new things from them. It sounds like a paradox to outsiders, but for the fans it’s simple enough…
"We want to hear you from your previous album, just not the same songs as the last album."
Then again, this IS just one song and cannot possible speak for the entire album. Here’s one fan hoping it’s just a fluke.
So I think I’ve finally found another song that would fit for the TRIPPY project. This brings the month plus long stagnation of the project to an end…hopefully. I only have two more songs to place and then it’s proofing and testing time.
Basically, once I have all the songs in place I’ll be sending them (lyrics and all) alongside the story progression to a proofer to see if they make sense to them and not just me. I’m hoping that particular stage will go well, because after that it’s a matter of writing the very little dialogue needed for the piece and then I can start staging things (images to go with the musical segments to tell the story.) Once that is complete I can finish concept art and hopefully move onto prelim-animatics.
Of course, the biggest test in all this will be the Flash animation. I don’t have much patience, so I’m hoping I can pull it off. I would hate for the project to once again die because I can’t animate worth a crap ><
Stew was so proud of this costume that year. Personally I cannot remember what I went as, so Freddy it is! And for all you young people out there, that’s the GOOD Freddy, not the weak ass Freddy from the new piece of shit movie. Freddy’s a Child Murder who worked in a boiler room, not a frigging Gardener!!!!!
