My Kindle books. So far I have yet to pay a cent for ebooks, and yet the bounty of l literature I have found for free has yet to disappoint me
I got me a badass Droid Razr smartphone with a screen the size of my ego…what do I need a Kindle for? A Kindle App for said smartphone…absolutely.
I’m really loving it too. It’s easy, more compact than a book, and I don’t have to worry about the accommodation of more space in my already cramped lifestyle. Sure it takes up battery power, but hell, it’s understandable and acceptable. I’d much rather have my battery drain because I’m actually using my phone to do stuff, then let it sit there and have the battery drain because cell data is on…(which I have subsequently fixed so really the battery power isn’t all that much of an issue.)
Right now I’m reading the first book in the John Carter of Mars saga, A PRINCESS OF MARS, which was free…as is the rest of the books in said saga as far as I can tell. Needless to say, I’m downloading as many as I can right now while they’re free so I can read them at my leisure.
The next step is to sign up with my local library so I can take advantage of the e-book borrowing. I’ve really meant to join the library anyways since I’ve realized that’s what I’ve been doing at Book Barn anyways—buying a book I’ve never read reguardless as to whether or not I’m sure I’ll want to keep it and read it again and again.
I’m really excited to fully utilize this thing, and save my Book Barn credit (I have a LOT) for buying hardcovers and first printings of my favorite books…top of the list being the first three DEXTER novels…I have the fourth and fifth on hardcover, the latter is actually autographed, I just need to get off my ass and get the sixth book (which I’ve been procrastinating on for a while, partly because I was a little dissapointed in book five.)
Anywho…I have also been writing my own book, on and off now for the past year or so. I’m eager to get some early opinions from people on it. So far I’ve just finished chapter four and I think that’s far enough in to give my testing group an idea of my writing style and what the book overall is going to be. So, if you would like to be one of the first to read an early draft of STARHOPPER AND THE EDGE OF REALITY, let me know and I can shoot you a file!
